DO YOU ALREADY HAVE WORK EXPERIENCE?
If you already work in the architectural field, or have relevant education and experience from another country, you can receive credits for this work by submitting retroactive work experience hours. Talk to us about what is involved. If you have 12 or more years of experience (or a three-year diploma and nine years work experience), you may qualify to become a Licensed Technologist OAA under the Advanced Standing Policy.
Progressing through the OAAAS to become a Licensed Technologist OAA is a cumulative process, so it makes sense to take the first step towards becoming an OAAAS member by joining OACETT today. Once your education is certified by OACETT and you write the Professional Practice Exam (basic law and ethics), you will join OAAAS and begin to document the required number of hours of approved work in design, contracting, construction administration and management.
It is only through the OAAAS that you can qualify as a Licensed Technologist OAA, with the legal authority to design larger capacity restaurants, and taller homes and low-rise apartment buildings. As a member of the OAA, you would have a right to provide these architectural services to the public with an OAA Certificate of Practice and professional liability insurance. As you work toward your goal, you can take full advantage of your OACETT certifications and member benefits.
